We are SafeTalk, an online mental health and emotional wellbeing service for children and young people aged 13-18 years old. We are here to listen, support, and help children feel safe and understood.
We promise to:
- Put children’s safety and wellbeing first.
- Listen carefully to your worries and wishes.
- Take concerns seriously and act quickly if you might be at risk.
How We Keep Children Safe
We do this by:
- Safe People: All our staff are DBS checked, and qualified in children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
- Safe Spaces: Our online sessions are secure and confidential. We follow strict privacy rules.
- Clear Boundaries: We make sure you know how our service works and what to expect.
- Speaking Up: If you tell us you are being hurt, or if we think you might be unsafe, we may need to share this information with others who can help keep you safe. We will always explain this unless it puts you at more risk.
How We Handle Concerns
If we’re worried about you safety:
- We listen and reassure you, you have done the right thing speaking up.
- We record what you say accurately and sensitively.
- We talk to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who decides what to do next.
- We may speak to parents/carers, social services, or the police if needed.
- We always put your best interests first.
